Makhana matar

Makhana Matar:

An easy recipe..

Ingredients:
  • Makhana (fox nut)
  • Green Peas
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Tomato
  • Mustard Oil/Refined Oil
  • Whole Cumin Seeds
  • Dry Red Chilli
  • Bay Leaf
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Red Chilli Powder
  • Cumin Powder
  • Coriander Powder
  • Salt
Preparation:

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, dry red chilli and bay leaf. Let them crackle. Add onion paste and sauté till a little brown. Add ginger and garlic paste and cook till the oil separates. In a small bowl add all the powders except salt and add a little water. Stir and mix well. Now add this to the pan and cook for a while. Once all the masala is cooked add green peas and let it cook on medium for 5 mins. Add water to make as much gravy required. The fox nut will absorb some of the gravy so add according to the need.

In another pan (non - stick) preferably add the fox nuts and dry roast them for a couple of mins.

Add the fox nut to the gravy and stir quickly.

Serve hot with paranthas..
